Skateboards 8-11 Years

From age eight, the boards approach adult models — just scaled appropriately. Our mid-size decks starting at 7.25” are made for street and park: wide enough for stable landings, narrow enough for your child to still whip them around. From shoe size 36, this is the right category.

At this age, the only difference from an adult board is the width. Construction, materials, and quality are the same: seven layers of maple, real trucks, proper bearings. A child who gets a toy board now will notice the difference immediately — and stop skating.

  • Deck width: from 7.25 inches, up to 7.75–8.0 inches
  • Deck length: approx. 31 inches
  • Wheelbase: approx. 33–35 cm
  • Wheels: 52–54 mm
  • Shoe size: from 36
  • Height: from approx. 130 cm

Between 7.25 and 8.0 inches, the deciding factor is less about age than riding style. Narrower decks are easier to flip and suited for technical tricks and flatground. Wider decks provide more stability and are more comfortable in ramps and bowls. When in doubt: for shoe sizes 36 to 38, 7.25 to 7.5 inches is a safe choice.

Important: Even experienced children need protective gear. Helmet in the park, wrist guards when practicing new tricks — the most common skateboarding injury affects the wrist.

Can my child also ride an 8.0-inch adult board?

Technically yes, as soon as they are tall enough. But a board that is too wide makes tricks unnecessarily difficult and takes the joy out of practice. Better a properly sized board now than one to grow into.

When is it time to switch to an adult board?

Usually between eleven and thirteen, depending on shoe size and height. When the feet extend beyond the deck, it’s time.

Is a complete board still worthwhile, or better to assemble individually?

At this age, both options make sense. A complete board is more affordable and ready to ride immediately; those who have been skating longer and know what they want will eventually assemble their own.

Then 7.0 inches fits better — narrower, lighter, and designed for heights of 100 to 130 cm.
